View of Edinburgh, Scotland from our window on our last day.

In what felt like a blink of an eye, we were on our final day in glorious Scotland. True to form, it rained all day. While some might have been unhappy with that, we were glad to get one last day of proper Scottish weather. We enjoyed a lazy morning before finally venturing out to wander Edinburgh one more time.

Surgeon’s Hall Museum

There were no plans on the agenda for the day, but we had walked past the Surgeon’s Hall Museum more than once and figured it would be interesting to stop in. With the rain, indoor activities were what we were looking for. Admittedly, a surgeon’s museum full of medical history, medical tools, and, yes, human remains on display might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we figured why not. If you have a sensitive stomach when it comes to, well, anything medical-related, you’ll probably want to skip this one.

In all, it was a fascinating few hours. Did we eventually call it a day because we were both starting to feel queasy? Yes. But was it still worth checking out? Also, yes.

We didn’t take any photos while we were there, mainly because I didn’t particularly need photos of body parts in jars, so I don’t have anything to show for this visit other than saying it was neat. If you’re looking for a way to kill a few hours, wandering through a museum and learning all of the ways we figured out how to save people is a pretty cool way to do it. We’ve come a long way in medicine, and it made both of us very grateful to be living now rather than a hundred years ago.

Our Last Dinner Out

Our last meal in Edinburgh, Scotland at The Salisbury Arms.

We spent the rest of the day shop-hopping before finally heading back towards our B&B. We made dinner reservations at one of our favorite spots, The Salisbury Arms. As always, it was delicious. We each had one last meal of fish and chips with a Scottish cider to wash it down. I savored my sticky toffee pudding, knowing it would be the last I’d have for quite a while.

We spent the rest of our evening double-checking all of our bags and making sure we were set for the journey home the next day. With everything settled and bellies full, we tucked in for one final night in the grand country of Scotland. We reminisced about our incredible adventure across the country, both knowing how lucky we were to have experienced it.

We woke the next morning, said fond farewells, and made our way home.

Till next time, Scotland. You were an absolute dream.
Cheers,
Lydia and Billy

Finally home.
